The Statue of Goddess Diana is a sculpture of the mythological goddess Diana or Artemis that was created by the ancient Greek sculptor Leochares in the 4th century BC. The statue was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and was originally placed in the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus in present-day Turkey.
The statue depicted the goddess standing with her bow at her side, wearing a voluminous robe and crowned with a tiara-like headdress. The statue was made of ivory and gold, and was said to have been over 40 feet tall.
The statue was destroyed by arson in the 5th century AD and only fragments remain today, the most famous of which is the Diana of Versailles, a Roman copy of the original statue that is now housed in the Louvre Museum in Paris. The statue remains an important symbol of ancient Greek and Roman mythology, and has inspired countless works of art throughout history.
